I can't help but keep saying it, so will again... Love "going on the hunt" !
This one went completely un-noticed within a small group of junk bottles listed on eBay. The pics were very poor, but this one bottle still looked interesting. I was once again excited when it arrived !
Without a doubt a very old carved bottle. Especially seeing China" etched on the bottom.
In 1919 "CHINA" should have been replaced by "Made in China". This requirement was harder to enforce for small glass items like IPBs, thus the exporters (or the importers) would scratch the bottom of the bottle with 'CHINA'. The 'China' scratches found on Chinese IPBs and other glass are therefore a reasonable indicator (but probably not completely fail safe) of age between 1891-1919. Good enough evidence for me...
So for me, that dates this bottle about 100 years old. Who know... Could have been carved much earlier..
